How to Use Stonkam Auto-Calibration Tool for Camera Setup
- Prepare the Vehicle and Cameras
- Install all Stonkam cameras (usually 4 or more depending on the system) on your vehicle according to the manufacturer’s mounting guidelines (nearside, offside, front, rear).
- Ensure cameras are securely fixed and powered on.
- Place Calibration Targets (Cloth Mats)
- Use the flexible calibration cloth targets supplied with the Stonkam calibration kit.
- Arrange 4–6 cloth mats around the vehicle, within the cameras’ fields of view, ideally on flat ground surfaces in front of, beside, and behind the vehicle.
- The mats do not have to be in exact positions — the software can handle some flexibility.
- Connect to Calibration Software
- Link your vehicle’s camera system to a calibration tablet, laptop, or dedicated calibration device with the Stonkam calibration software installed. This software communicates with the cameras and DVR system.
- Start the Auto-Calibration Process
- Launch the calibration app and select the auto-calibration option. The software will automatically detect the cloth targets via the cameras and use AI-driven algorithms to calculate camera alignment and stitching parameters. Wait for Completion Calibration typically takes around 60 seconds. The system adjusts the camera angles and corrects for distortions and blind spots. During this process, ensure the vehicle remains stationary.
- Review Calibration Results. Once finished, the software displays a stitched surround-view image from all cameras.
